Tool surprised fans with a rare live performance by Refluxthe title track from their 1993 debut album.
The band debuted with the song at their March 3 concert in Detroit at Little Caesars Arena, giving fans a shock change to their setlist. The gig marked the first time Tool performed Reflux on stage for nearly 20 years, having last played it in April 2002.
Currently, the band is on tour in support of the 2019 album Inoculum of Fear, playing a series of dates that were postponed from 2020 due to the pandemic.
Recent sets have seen Tool relying heavily on the latest album, with the band seemingly keen to ensure it gets a fair release amid the upheavals of the past two years.
Arguably, after the drudgery of the pandemic, it’s also a great time to drop some old favorites and lift your spirits, so Tool also left some time to raid the back catalogue.
Recent broadcasts have seen frequent depictions of Opiate from their debut EP of the same name in 1992 (having celebrated its 30th anniversary this year with an extended reworking of the track) as well as Ænima epic Pushit and The Grudge from 2001 Lateral.
The North American branch of Inoculum of Fear The tour will continue until March 20 before the band heads to Europe to perform across the continent from April 23.
