Ralf asks Ron to maintain high standards

Ralf Rangick demanded more of the same from Cristiano Ronaldo to fire Manchester United into the Champions League last eight, writes NEIL CUSTEAST.

Ronaldo ended a barren one-goal-in-ten spell in spectacular fashion with a hat-trick in the Red Devils’ 3-2 win over Spurs on Saturday.

Now, just 72 hours later, he’s backing the 37-year-old veteran to turn back the clock with another spectacular display at Old Trafford.

Manager Rangnick said: “He showed against Tottenham what kind of professional player he is, what level he can still play.

“With performances like he has shown, he remains a very important player for this team and he can make a difference for us.”

Rangnick will start the goalscoring legend confident that the short gap between Saturday’s game and this last-16 second leg won’t hold him back.

He said: “I’m not worried he couldn’t recover.

“Until now he’s always been a very caring person, he knows exactly what to do.

“I’m not worried about that. If he can score three more goals, we’ll see. His overall performance was good, very good on Saturday and hopefully we get it against Atletico.
